Tennessee softball has a big weekend. The No. 3 Volunteers have swept through regional NCAA Tournament play and are now set to host a Super Regional matchup with No. 14 seed Alabama. The Vols are just two wins from the Women's College World Series. Here's the story on their super regional matchup with the Crimson Tide.

As noted, the Vols earned the right to host the Super Regional as one of the top eight seeds in the NCAA Tournament that won their region. The Vols bested Dayton 3-0 to open the regional. They then beat Virginia twice, the first time 12-0 in five innings and then 6-0 in the finals. So not only did Tennessee win, they didn't allow a run.
Alabama, the No. 14 seed overall, came out of their own region in Tuscaloosa. The Tide defeated USC Upstate 1-0 to open regional play. They then bested Southeastern Louisiana twice, once 6-3 in nine innings and then 12-2 in five innings for the championship.

Sports books are generally not listing the individual super regional fields but are taking bets on the winner of the College World Series. Tennessee is at +1500 to win the championship, which ties with Oklahoma State and Florida for the third-best odds behind Oklahoma (-115) and Texas (+430).
Tennessee's pitching gives the Volunteers a significant advantage over Alabama. Tennessee's 1.42 ERA on the season is more than half a run per game better than the SEC's second-lowest rate. Alabama also doesn't have an especially potent offense, with a team .257 batting average (11th in the 13-team SEC) and 39 home runs (tied for 11th).
Tennessee is likely to win, perhaps even in a two-game sweep.

The first two games of the Tennessee super regional will be broadcast on ESPN2. The third game, if necessary, has not yet been scheduled for TV, but it will almost certainly be carried on one of the SEC's television outlets.
Tennessee softball super regionals schedule
Game one of the Tennessee super regional matchup with Alabama will be played on Friday at 4 PM EST. The second game is scheduled for Saturday at 3 PM EST. If either team wins the first two games, then the super regionals are over and that team moves on to the Women's College World Series. If not, game three will decide it on Sunday. A time has not been scheduled.
Where is the NCAA softball super regionals 2024?
Tennessee will host its super regional action at its own stadium, Sherri Parker Lee Stadium in Knoxville. Lee Stadium was opened in 2008 and it has a seating capacity of 2,200.
The winner will advance to the Women's College World Series, which is played at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. Devon Field was opened in 1987 and seats 13,000. It has hosted the Women's College World Series since 1990.
