The vibes were immaculate, with Tennessee winning their first College World Series. It's time to celebrate a season where they were the best collegiate baseball team in the country and beat a worthy opponent in Texas A&M.

How Tony Vitello led Tennessee Vols to first College World Series title

Tony Vitello and the Tennessee Vols had a season to remember in 2024. They ended the regular season with over 50 wins (the only program to do so in 2024) and were awarded the first seed heading into the postseason.

The Vols were placed in the Knoxville Regional with Indiana, Southern Miss and Northern Kentucky. Tennessee breezed through the Regionals with wins against all three programs, earning a berth in the Super Regionals.

Their next task was a Super Regionals series against Evansville. Tennessee won Game 1 of the Super Knoxville Regional 11-6. Evansville then handed them their first postseason loss, winning 10-8 in Game 2. However, the Vols duly dispatched Evansville in Game 3, securing a College World Series berth.

The Tennessee Vols continued their dominance in Omaha, defeating the Florida State Seminoles twice and North Carolina to punch their ticket to the title game against the Texas A&M Aggies. By doing that, Vitello led the team to its first College World Series finals appearance.

However, the finals didn't start positively for the Vols, as they needed help deciphering the Aggies pitchers.

Texas A&M took Game 1 4-1. The Aggies got back on the board with an impressive 9-5 victory in Game 2, ensuring that the 2024 College World Series would be decided in a Game 3.

The third game of the 2024 College World Series was a classic, with the Vols showcasing their batting and pitching prowess. Christian Moore and Dylan Dreiling hit home runs, and their pitchers played their part. The Vols captured the title with a 6-5 victory to take the trophy home to Tennessee.
