"We were so determined to get the job done": Christian Moore sheds light on Tennessee's grit to win Game 2 against Texas A&M

The Tennessee Volunteers kept their season alive and force a winner-take-all Game 3 of the 2024 College World Series with their 4-1 win on Sunday over the Texas A&M Aggies.

It was not a win that people are used to seeing out of the Vols this season. They scored just four runs and locked down on the mound, but they did enough to win and keep their season going.

While being interviewed by reporter Avarie Howard of D1 Baseball after the game, Tennessee Volunteers star second baseman Christian Moore discussed the feeling the team had throughout the game.

"We weren't losing. You could tell in the dugout we were so determined to get the job done. It wasn't pretty. Obviously, the offense wasn't the offense we were used to, but we got the job done, and we didn't want it to be our last game today, and I think we played like that."

This was the 30th time this college baseball season that a team came from behind to win a game. Moore finished 1-for-3 in the game with a pair of walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Game 2.

It will be an intriguing Game 3 to determine which team will be crowned the 2024 College World Series champion.

Which of Tennessee or Texas has the advantage for Game 3 of the College World Series?

Game 3 on Monday evening is for all the marbles, as the Texas A&M Aggies and the Tennessee Volunteers are playing one game for the national championship. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Vols are a heavy favorite, as they are listed as -220 favorites to win, while the Aggies are +170 underdogs.

With both teams depleted with their pitching and the Vols offense just being on a completely different level than the Aggies, it makes sense.

Game 2 showcased just that, as Tennessee came back, thanks to a pair of late-inning home runs to score four runs. Texas A&M needs to manufacture runs, as Tennessee can just put runs on the board with one swing of the bat.

The Vols have a distinct advantage heading into the winner-takes-all Game 3 of the 2024 College World Series.
