"Worst list of all time": College Hoops world unhappy with latest top 10 men's sophomore rankings for 2024-25 season
Fans are showing displeasure at the rankings of top sophomores by NCAA March Madness expert Andy Katz. Fans questioned, took jibes, and had witty takes over the list released this week.
Andy Katz ranked the Texas Tech star JT Toppin at the top of the list. Toppin averaged 12.4 points and 9.1 rebounds in his Freshman season. Josh Hubbard of Mississippi State occupied the second spot on the list, averaging 17.1 points last season.
Mackenzie Mgbako of Indiana averaged 12.2 points and 4.1 rebounds last season. He was ranked No.3 by Katz. Aden Holloway of Alabama, Jackson Shelstad of Oregon, and Caleb Foster of Duke occupied the fourth, fifth, and sixth places, respectively.
Many fans questioned the exclusion of Milan Momcilovic from the list of top 10 men's sophomore rankings. The Iowa State Cyclones star averaged 10.9 points last season. The exclusion of Jizzle James of Cincinnati Barclays with an average of 8.8 points and 1.9 rebounds was also a point of discussion.
Fans flooded the comments section on X (formerly Twitter) with their disagreements.
"Could possibly be the worst list of all time," one fan commented.
"@TheAndyKatz has a clear bias against Iowa State"another posted.
"Did you just pull random names out of a hat?," a fan questioned
"It somehow keeps getting so much worse. CMB 10th? Aden will be coming off the bench and Shelstad will be the main scorer and run the offense for Oregon?!?"another one said.
"Would be a shame if Aden had a big year after being trashed by his former school’s fanbase,"another commented.
"CMB played out of position at the Center spot in the SEC as a 6’7” true frosh after coming off a bout with mono. He was arguably the best player on a team projected to finish dead last in the conference. They finished 3rd. Nonsense," one fan responded.
Armando Bacot objects to the top 10 men's sophomore rankings
All-time Unc basketball rebounder Bacot came in support of Duke Blue Devils star Caleb Foster. He also mentioned the name of Elliot Cadeau. The two stars were ranked No. 6 and No. 7.
Bacot went undrafted this year and will soon start practicing with the Memphis Grizzlies. He commented on the choice of Katz concerning the rankings of Foster in a tweet:
"Cadeau1 Foster 2."
He quickly deleted the tweet and subsequently explained that he believed that he, Cadeaui and Foster deserved the top place.
Cadeau averaged 7.3 p, 2.2 r 4.1 a at Tar Heels. Foster averaged 7.7 p even though he made only 27 appearances last season.
