Omaha weather report for men's College World Series, June 19: Weather forecast for NCAA Baseball championship
The rainy weather on Tuesday night forced the cancelation of the Kentucky-Florida do-or-die College World Series second-round game at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. The committee decided to reset the game to Wednesday, 11 a.m. ET, causing a triple header to be played today.
Following the Kentucky-Florida clash is the Bracket 1 semifinal showdown between No. 1 seed Tennessee and eighth-ranked Florida State at 3 p.m. ET. Then, the nightcap would pit No. 3 seed Texas A&M and the winner of the Wildcats-Gators duel at 7 p.m. ET.
This means that the winner of the Kentucky-Florida clash will play two games in one day, with a fresh Texas A&M, who has a twice-to-beat incentive in the college baseball semifinals, waiting in the evening.
Unlike the non-stop downpour on Tuesday evening, Wednesday is expected to be mostly dry, with little chance of rain in the afternoon, according to an Omaha-based meteorologist.
Omaha weather report for men's College World Series
KETV-7 Omaha meteorologist Sean Everson forecast the weather for Wednesday in Omaha is expected to be dry for most of the Kentucky-Florida game. However, there is at least a 30% chance of rain showers or thunderstorms in the morning and afternoon.
"So it is possible that we could have impacts and the biggest X-fatcor is going to be if we have any lightning near the stadium at any point this morning and afternoon," Everson said.
Everson also made a weather forecast for the Tennessee-Florida State clash at 3 p.m. ET. He predicted dry weather during the large portion of the contest but warned of intermittent rains that might appear mid-game.
"Again a lot of dry time but can't rule out a spotty shower at any point there in the afternoon," the meteorologist said.
The night game featuring Texas A&M and the Kentucky-Florida winner is more likely to stay dry, with temperatures dropping into the upper 60 degrees Fahrenheit range with the wind blowing slightly, Everson concluded.
