Oregon baseball 2025 season preview: 3 biggest games, key players, predictions and more

Oregon Baseball produced a solid season this year. They finished the Pac-12 regular season with a 19-11 conference record, just one game behind the league-champion Arizona Wildcats.

Although they suffered back-to-back losses in Pac-12 Tournament pool play, they kept their streak of making the postseason every year in the Mark Wasikowski era with an at-large bid. They featured in the Santa Barbara Regional as the tournament's third seed. They upset the hosts and No. 14 national seed, the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, to win their second straight Regional.

Their season came to an end in the Bryan-College Station Super Regional, as the Texas A&M Aggies swept them. They finished with a 40-20 overall record.

Wasikowski's impact on the program cannot be understated, and he hopes to keep the Ducks on an upward trajectory in 2025. Here, we preview Oregon Baseball ahead of the 2025 NCAA Baseball season.

3 key games for Oregon Baseball in the 2025 season

3. USC Trojans

The Trojans finished 1.5 games behind the Ducks this year with a 17-12 conference record. In the regular season, the Ducks won a three-game home series at Eugene. The battle between the Trojans and Ducks could have major repercussions next year in the race for the Pac-12 regular season title.

2. Arizona Wildcats

Chip Hale's third year with the Wildcats saw the program produce one of its strongest regular seasons. In addition to winning the Pac-12 regular season title, the Wildcats won the Pac-12 tournament for the first time in program history.

They are expected to be among the frontrunners for the regular season crown and should pose a major challenge to the Ducks next year.

1. Oregon State Beavers

The rivalry between the Ducks and Beavers will intensify in 2025. Both teams scored two wins over the other last season and narrowly missed the Pac-12 regular season title.

While the Beavers saw Travis Bazzana go as the top overall pick in this year's MLB Draft, they added solid talents to their roster for next year. Their series with Oregon could go a long way in deciding how the Pac-12 regular season title race shapes up.

Key players for the Oregon Ducks in 2025

3. Maddox Molony, INF

According to Prep Baseball Report, as a high school senior, Molony was the third-best high school prospect and the second-best shortstop in Oregon. He justified that hype in his freshman year with the Ducks while knocking 10 home runs and 31 RBI with an average of .315 in 43 games played.

He is expected to play a larger role in the Ducks' offense next year given the loss of top hitter Bryce Boettcher in this year's draft.

2. Grayson Grinsell, LHP

Grinsell emerged as the Ducks' starting pitcher during his sophomore season. He finished the year 7-2 while recording 99 strikeouts with an ERA of 4.08 in 79.1 innings pitched.

Entering his junior year, Grinsell hopes to impress on the mound. He is expected to lead the bullpen, and he hopes to increase his chances of going big in next year's MLB Draft.

1. Mason Neville, OF

Neville stood out offensively for the Ducks this year. In just 149 plate appearances, he finished the season second in home runs (16) and RBI (43) while tallying a .268 average.

He will likely play a bigger role in the Ducks' line-up during his junior year. His ultimate goal is to hear his name called at the 2025 MLB Draft.

Predicting Oregon Ducks' 2025 season

The Ducks' core this season consisted of several talented sophomores who will become juniors next year. Combined with Wasikowski's approach, the Ducks will likely produce another strong regular season in the Pac-12 which should see them make the postseason.

They can potentially win an NCAA Regional for the third straight year. However, they are unlikely to make the College World Series given the stiff competition from the ACC and expanded SEC.
