Top 5 Georgia batters of all time ft. Charlie Condon

As Georgia prepares for super-regional play, it's a good chance to look back at Bulldogs history. Much of Georgia's outstanding baseball background comes from pitchers. But of course, it's not a pitcher who everybody is talking about this season.

Bulldogs' third baseman Charlie Condon is great... but how great? Is he an all-timer? Here are the top 5 UGA hitters of all time.

Top 5 Georgia batters of all time

Shown here with the Detroit Tigers, Gordon Beckham was one of Georgia's top hitters ever.

#5 Roger Miller (1986-1989)

Miller was a legendary catcher at UGA. Solid defensively, he hit .319 at the plate with 45 home runs. But Miller's main mark was driving in runs. His 226 RBIs remains a UGA record, and his 282 hits ties for team high honors. Miller's seven career grand slams attest to his ability to drive in runs.

Miller was a 14th round draft pick of the Giants in 1989. He stuck around the minor leagues until 1996, reaching the AAA level twice, but never made the major leagues.

#4 Billy Henderson (1947-1950)

Henderson was an old-timer, but a guy who could absolutely fly around the bases. His 91 steals remains a UGA record and he hit .375 for his Georgia career, still sixth on the school list. Henderson hit .410 in 1948 and was known for cranking out the occasional inside-the-park home run.

Henderson was also a football letterman at Georgia. He played in the minor leagues for a couple of years, but his real passion was coaching. Henderson died in 2018 and left behind a score of former players who can attest to his considerable talents in mentoring and teaching.

#3 Josh Morris (2004-2006)

In three seasons at UGA, the excellent first baseman hit .303. He also slugged 51 home runs, a Bulldogs record when he finished his Georgia career. He also had 184 RBIs, third in UGA history.

College Baseball Foundation named Morris an All-American in 2006, when he ripped 23 homers and 68 RBIs.

Morris was a 12th round draft pick of the Braves in 2006, but only stuck around in the minors for two seasons. According to LinkedIn, Morris now works for the Georgia Power Company.

#2 Gordon Beckham (2006-2008)

A three-year star at UGA, Beckham was probably the most notable hitter in Bulldogs history until the last two years. A super-steady middle infielder, Beckham hit .333 at Georgia.

He also slugged 53 home runs, a Georgia record which stood for nearly two decades. His 182 RBIs are fourth most at UGA. He was a consensus All-American as a shortstop in 2008.

The eighth overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, Beckham played in 11 MLB seasons. He made it to the majors in 2009, finishing fifth in Rookie of the Year voting after hitting .270 with 14 homers and 63 RBIs.

Beckham played in 1,069 big league games, hitting .237 with 80 homers. His last big-league action was with the Tigers in 2019.

#1 Charlie Condon (2023-2024)

How great has Condon been? Most of what we knew about the UGA record book ended up being wrong. Condon is currently hitting .416 in his UGA career. That's miles ahead of the current Georgia record of .394.

Gordon Beckham hit his 53 homers in three years. Condon has 61 homers in two years (and may have more to hit).

Condon is a likely top overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. Whatever happens in super regionals or beyond, he's Georgia's best hitter ever.
