WATCH: College baseball players list down their favorite Savannah Banana rule to be implemented on the field
The 2024 College World Series is on a bit of a hiatus as we wait for Saturday evening when the College World Series Finals take place. It will be between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Tennessee Volunteers.
With the teams still at Omaha, NCAA Baseball and Bleacher Report asked players an interesting question. It was: Which Savannah Bananas rule would they want to see implemented into college baseball?
Here is the full video the two organizations released and it is clear that one rule is a favorite among the college baseball players.
Banana Ball is a rule which says that if a fan in the crowd catches the ball while it is in the air, the batter is ruled out, as if a fielder were to do the same.
It is unclear if the hitters would want to see this but a lot of pitchers seemed to be in favor of getting thousands of extra fielders to lower their earned run averages.
Which team will win the 2024 College World Series Finals?
The Tennessee Volunteers and the Texas A&M Aggies are the two teams competing in the best-of-three finals to determine the national champion.
These programs have different philosophies on how they attack and win games. The Vols use their offense to outscore the opposition while the Aggies use an elite pitching staff to limit the amount of runs they give up.
Tennessee and Texas A&M did not play in the regular season despite both teams being in the Southeastern Conference. However, this is not the first meeting this season between the two programs. The Vols were earlier able to secure a 7-4 victory in the SEC Tournament en route to Tennessee winning the tournament.
The Volunteers have the advantage as they have shown the ability to score runs at an incredible level. Their average of 8.33 runs per game during their three College World Series games thus far is very impressive.
It is going to be an interesting battle but the Vols have enough pitching to keep the Aggies at bay offensively. They need to be able to tack on some runs to win Game 1 and beyond.
