Before Game 1 of the anticipated series, let's look at a historical feat achieved in the CWS.

What's the most runs ever scored in a College World Series game?

The Florida Gators scored the most runs in College World Series history, 24, in the 2023 finals against the LSU Tigers. The Gators achieved the feat in Game 2 of the series, forcing a Game 3.

The Gators hit an astonishing six home runs at Charles Schwab Field, taking the Tigers' pitchers to the cleaners. Jac Caglianone and Ty Evans hit two home runs each, while Wyatt Langford and BT Riopelle also hit the ball out of the park in their record-setting victory.

Interestingly, Florida entered the game having played in four of the CWS record-tying eight one-run fixtures. The Gators had amassed 17 runs in those games before their offense flipped the switch against the Tigers.

The Gators broke Notre Dame's long-standing record, which the program set in 1957 with a 23-2 win over Northern Colorado.

LSU bounced back in the final game as their offense returned the favor with 18 runs in an 18-4 victory to claim the CWS title for the seventh time in their history.

The 2024 College World Series Finals Schedule

Here's a look at the schedule for the 2024 CWS finals:

The Texas A&M soared through the Regionals and Super Regionals before thumping the Florida Gators on Wednesday to ease into a finals appearance. The Vols and Aggies are undefeated, making for a compelling matchup in Omaha.
