Who is pitching for Florida State today? All eyes on Seminoles in 2024 College World Series game - June 18
The Florida State Seminoles will play the North Carolina Tar Heels in their third game of the 2024 College World Series on Tuesday. The eagerly awaited matchup will commence at 2 p.m. EDT at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
Florida State starting pitcher today
As per multiple reports, Conner Whittaker is set to start as Florida State's pitcher today. However, FSU coach Link Jarrett could make a game-time decision on his starting pitcher against North Carolina.
Whittaker has been impressive for the Seminoles this season and has an excellent 5-0 record. The right-hander has racked up 47 strikeouts and 14 walks in 58.1 innings pitched at a 4.94 ERA.
While Whittaker has been key for FSU, he will be under some pressure to deliver since the Seminoles need to win to remain alive in the tournament. He will come up against a North Carolina batting lineup that hasn't been at its best in recent weeks.
After Florida State's 7-3 win over Virginia kept the program alive in the postseason, coach Jarrett insisted that his team can still make a deep run in the CWS.
“The team’s response of playing arguably the best game we’ve played this year pretty much sums up what’s in that dugout,” Jarrett said. “To watch them play their best game, that was just a thrill I’ll never forget here.”
