Florida starting pitcher today

As per multiple reports, Pierce Coppola is set to start as the Florida pitcher against Kentucky. Gators coach Kevin O’Sullivan also hinted at giving the sophomore a start in the eliminator.

“I’m sure we’re probably going to start Pierce,” O’Sullivan said. “That’s going to be the message tomorrow. We’re going to need some help. We can’t afford — like today Cade helped us. We needed a performance like that. And it wasn’t perfect but he gave us some innings. The same thing is going to be said tomorrow."

Coppola has posted a rather underwhelming 0-4 record thus far. The left-hander has recorded 26 strikeouts and nine walks across 18.2 innings pitched with a 9.16 ERA.

The Gators need Coppola to get back to his best at this crucial stage of the postseason. There is added pressure to win as this game is a do-or-die.
