Who is pitching for Florida today vs. Kentucky? All eyes on Gators in 2024 College World Series game - June 19
The Florida Gators will square off against the Kentucky Wildcats in their third game of the 2024 College World Series which has been rescheduled for Wednesday. The eagerly awaited eliminator will commence at 11 a.m. EDT at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Florida vs. Kentucky game was to be played on Tuesday but was rescheduled for the following day due to impending inclement weather.
Florida starting pitcher today vs. Kentucky
Pierce Coppola was set to start as the Florida pitcher on Tuesday, and he is expected to take the mound as the starter for the rescheduled game against Kentucky on Wednesday.
Florida coach Kevin O’Sullivan spoke to reporters on Monday and said he was going to start the sophomore in the eliminator.
“I’m sure we’re probably going to start Pierce,” O’Sullivan said. “That’s going to be the message tomorrow. We’re going to need some help. We can’t afford — like today Cade helped us. We needed a performance like that. And it wasn’t perfect but he gave us some innings. The same thing is going to be said tomorrow."
Coppola hasn't been at his best this season and has recorded an underwhelming 0-4 record. The left-hander has managed 26 strikeouts and nine walks across 18.2 innings pitched with a 9.16 ERA.
Since this is a do-or-die matchup, Florida needs Coppola to deliver and get the team off to a strong start.
