Who is pitching for Kentucky today vs. Florida? All eyes on Wildcats in 2024 College World Series game - June 19

The Kentucky Wildcats will face off against the Florida Gators in their third matchup of the 2024 College World Series, which has been rescheduled for Wednesday. The postseason eliminator will commence at 11 a.m. EDT at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

Kentucky's game against Florida was originally to be held on Tuesday but was rescheduled for the following day due to impending inclement weather.

Kentucky starting pitcher vs. Florida

Dominic Niman was tipped to start for Kentucky against Florida on Tuesday, and he is expected to take the mound as the starter for the rescheduled game on Wednesday.

Niman has grown into one of the Wildcats' most important players this season and has an 8-4 record heading into Wednesday's game. The left-hander has racked up 66 strikeouts and 25 walks across 70.2 innings pitched at a 6.24 ERA.

Notably, Niman was on the mound when Kentucky played the Gators earlier this season, but he didn't have a great outing. Florida scored six runs on seven hits while he was pitching and won the game 10-1.

Niman has been a reliable option for Kentucky this season, but he will be under additional pressure against Florida since the Wildcats need to win to keep their hopes of reaching the CWS finals alive.

Kentucky coach Nick Mingione spoke to the media earlier this week and praised the Gators for their remarkable season thus far. He also insisted that his team would be up for the challenge in the eliminator.

"They took the hard path here, they were on the road, both for regionals and supers," Mingione said. "This league every week teams can change, and this is a time that we're facing tomorrow that has been there, done that. They're well coached.
"So yeah, we'll definitely have our hands full and they are not the same team from when we played them a couple of weeks ago."
