Who is pitching for Tennessee today? All eyes on Volunteers in 2024 College World Series game - June 16

Tennessee Volunteers pitcher today

Drew Beam will start as Tennessee's pitcher against North Carolina on Sunday, the Vols confirmed earlier this week.

Beam has become one of the key members of Tennessee's rotation in the past few years. This season, the right-hander has an 8-2 record. He has racked up 85 strikeouts and 23 walks in 93.1 innings pitched at a 4.44 ERA.

The Vols had started Chris Stamos in their opening game of the CWS against Florida State on Friday. Although Tennessee's pitching was not quite on point in Game 1, it managed to get the win over FSU.

However, Beam has been Tennessee's Game 2 starter throughout the season, and he's done a tremendous job for the team. He has a 25-8 record in his college baseball career with a 3.65 ERA.

It will be interesting to see how Beam performs on the biggest stage of the season.

The Vols moved to the winners bracket of the CWS after beating Florida State 12-11 in their opening game on Friday. They joined the Tar Heels, who recorded a narrow 3-2 win over Virginia earlier that day.

Although this game is not a do-or-die for either team, a win would put North Carolina or Tennessee one game away from reaching the College World Series finals.
