3 biggest fouls from Angel Reese's LSU career ft. hair-pulling on Kamilla Cardoso
On Sunday, Angel Reese found herself in the headlines for a flagrant foul to the head of fellow rookie Caitlin Clark in a WNBA game. That said, here are three of her more memorable fouls, with only one of them being called against the rookie sensation.
Top 3 Angel Reese fouls from her LSU career
3. Takedown against Mizzou
Reese, who scored 18.6 points per game and grabbed 12.3 boards per game in college, certainly was no shrinking violet in the post. Take this play from LSU's game against Missouri. After a made shot, Reese calmly took down Missouri's Hayley Frank.
Perhaps as impressive as the play is coach Kim Mulkey who started screaming that Frank flopped on the play. Nonetheless, officials gave Reese an intentional foul, one of only two she drew in the 92-72 win. Reese finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds. For her part, Frank recovered well enough and had 22 points herself.
2. An elbow to the face
Reese didn't have to be on defense to make a physical play. Take this play from the national title game a season ago. Reese made a spin move and powered into Iowa post player Monika Czinano, drawing a foul on Czinano.
In fact, after drawing the foul, Reese swiped an elbow into the middle of Czinano's face. The officials did go to the monitor and look at the play, but the call went undisturbed. Reese had 15 points and 10 rebounds (and three fouls) as the Tigers won the title by a 102-85 margin.
1. A hair pull on Kamilla Cardoso
File this under another play that did not draw any attention from the officials. In LSU's regular season-ending game against South Carolina, a foul late in the game caused a miniature brawl. What might have been missed is that it wasn't exactly a sudden outburst.
On a play earlier in the game, Angel Reese battled Cardoso for a rebound and when she pulled away, she did so heatedly. A handful of Cardoso's long locks got yanked in what didn't seem to be an accident.
Such a simple play, hidden early in the game, later became a near fight.
