3 college basketball records Paige Bueckers could break in 2024-25 season

UConn star Paige Bueckers is one of the best women's college basketball players in the nation. So far in her college career, she has already broken numerous records and has a chance to continue that trend in the 2024-25 season.

Bueckers was also the first freshman to win the Naismith Trophy as the national player of the year. The upcoming season will be the 6-foot guard's final year in college. ESPN WNBA mock draft for 2025 has Bueckers as the No. 1 overall pick, so she will likely declare for the draft after the season.

Paige Bueckers' main goal for her last season is to help UConn win the national championship. If she keeps playing at a high level, she might also set some new records.

3 records Paige Bueckers may break this season

#1. Most Career Points at UConn

Paige Bueckers is on track to become the all-time leading scorer for the UConn Huskies. Currently, she sits at 20th all-time with 1,683 career points. If she wants to go after Maya Moore's record, she would need 1,354 points in her final season, which would be a tough task even for a player of Buecker's caliber.

During her standout 2023-24 season, the Minnesota native tallied 854 points, an average of 21.9 points per game.

No women’s basketball player in history has ever averaged more than 31.7 points per game while scoring over a thousand points in a season. Caitlin Clark holds the record for the most points in a single season with 1,234, which Bueckers has to exceed to break Moore's 3,036 career points.

#2. Highest points per game in a season for UConn

Currently, the UConn record for the highest points per game in a single season is held by Maya Moore at 22.8 points in 2010-11.

To beat this record, Paige Bueckers would need to average at least 22.9 points in the upcoming campaign — a very reasonable target given her scoring prowess.

Besides, the senior Husky guard could go even further all the way to challenge Caitlin Clark's 31.6 points per game record, which would be an even more incredible feat.

#3. Field goal made in a season

Another Division I women's basketball record Paige Bueckers could potentially break is the most field goals made in a single season. Former Iowa star Caitlin Clark is yet again at the top with 403 field goals made last season.

Bueckers also came close to this record in her junior campaign, making 317 field goals. If she can maintain that sort of efficiency and increase her volume, she could very well be on her way to surpassing Clark's single-season mark. That will also see her break Maya Moore's UConn record of 333 field goals in a season.
