5 teams that should go all in to recruit Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony ft. Rutgers

Kiyan Anthony is one of the top players in the 2025 recruiting class. The four-star prospect is the son of former NBA player Carmelo Anthony and is inclined to spend significant years at college level, unlike his father, who leaped to the NBA after one year of Division I basketball.

The six-foot-five shooting guard received an offer from Rutgers, making him a bearer of nearly 20 offers from programs like Florida State, Syracuse, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State and others.

With that, let's look at the five teams that should yield all cards to land Kiyan Anthony's commitment.

Five teams that should aggressively pursue Kiyan Anthony

#1 Syracuse Orange - Adrian Autry

Given Carmelo Anthony’s championship history with the Orange, Kiyan Anthony’s commitment to Syracuse seems natural. Anthony led the program to its lone NCAA championship, averaging 22.2 points and 10 rebounds.

He also accompanied Kiyan when he made an official visit to the university in October 2023 where the duo posed in the school’s jerseys. Even though a commitment to Syracuse will mark Carmelo's full circle moment, Kiyan Anthony is yet to give a statement to the Uni.

#2 Ohio State Buckeyes - Jake Diebler

Anthony is heavily considering Ohio State’s offer and will soon be visiting the university. He's aware of Jake Diebler’s relatively young coaching career and appreciates the blueprint he has for the program’s future.

Moreover, Anthony has had first-hand experience of Ohio State’s player development program by watching his fellow hoopers grow with the Buckeyes.

#3 Auburn Tigers - Bruce Pearl

Kiyan Anthony has an offer from the Auburn Tigers and is planning to visit the program in September. Unlike the uncertainties with the Buckeyes, Bruce Pearl’s program promises consistency throughout his collegiate year.

The Tigers made their first final four appearances in 2019 and have won two SEC conference championships (2018 and 2022) in the last six years. Nevertheless, an Auburn commitment may take time, as Anthony and Pearl are yet to forge a relationship.

#4 USC Trojans - Eric Musselman

Eric Musselman was present at one of Anthony’s Peach Jam games, and USC is one of the latest teams to extend the guard an offer. The 17-year-old has a good bond with assistant coach Quincy Pondexter, which could be one of the reasons the Trojans could land Anthony.

USC could boost its chances by mounting a promising 2024-25 run as Musselman comes to the program after a dismal 15-18 run.

#5 Rutgers Scarlet Knights - Steve Pikiell

Rutgers extended its pursuit of high-profile athletes by offering the top player in New York this week. Logistically, Rutgers University could be a great fit for Anthony, as the New Jersey school rests close to his home in Westchester, New York.

Moreover, Rutgers' recent history shows a steady improvement in their basketball. The program earned NCAA bids in 2021 and 2022 (NIT in 2023) for the first time since 1991.

However, despite producing NBA caliber players in the last three years, Scarlet Knights is yet to make noise in the big league. Nevertheless, Rutgers offers Kiyan Anthony to potentially become a Big Apple early in his career.
