Acaden Lewis constructs his ideal roster ft. Cayden and Cameron Boozer as commitment date approaches
Four-star point guard prospect Acaden Lewis would like to have Cameron and Cayden Boozer, Nate Ament and Shelton Henderson as his teammates for his dream roster.
The 6-foot-2 Lewis, ranked No. 5 point guard in the nation and 32nd overall per On3, said he would like to team up with the four high school sensations if he's allowed to choose his first five. In an Instagram clip of an interview segment posted by SportsCenter Next, Lewis said:
"Like, Duke I already got the Boozers. I'd probably just try to grab one more. Maybe like a Nate (Ament), a (Shelton Henderson)."
The Sidwell Friends School product has four days before the final date for commitment to a program for the 2025-26 college basketball season. Lewis has trimmed down his choices to Duke, UConn and Kentucky.
The point guard removed North Carolina from his finalists after making his official visits to each of the schools before making his final decision, scheduled on Nov. 2, 2:00 pm ET at the Trinidad Recreation Center in Washington D.C.
Acaden Lewis breaks down the three finalists
Acaden Lewis assessed the three college programs that he'd decide on committing for the next college basketball season.
In an interview with 247 Sports, the 6-foot-2 point guard commented on Duke, Kentucky and UConn and how they stood out in his mind. The Washington D.C. native hailed Duke coach Jon Scheyer and his assistant Emmanuel Dildy for their constant communication with him, especially on how he could get better as a playmaker.
"On top of that Duke has a really big brand. Being a point guard at Duke is a really big deal. There is an opportunity for me next year with Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster presumably leaving because I expect one of them to be gone," he said.
As for Kentucky, Lewis disclosed the Wildcats coaching staff's perseverance, with coach Mark Pope and assistants Jason Hart and Kenny Brooks reaching out and allowing him to watch game films.
The point guard felt the in-house visit with the staff struck him. He believed he might get a big opportunity, knowing Pope's coaching style at BYU.
"He (Pope) played fast and really trusted his point guards. He lets them rock out and I can see myself doing that. I've also played with Jasper (Johnson) and Malachi (Moreno) at various camps. I can see myself playing with those two. Overall Kentucky is a guard school," Lewis said.
Lewis has all but respect for UConn's coaching staff, especially for back-to-back national championship winner coach Dan Hurley. He also hailed the team's coaching staff for having that competitive fire instilled in the team.
He also gave praise to Huskies associate coach Kimani Young for constantly talking and telling him the areas where he can improve. Lewis believes that he can have basketball freedom and competitive structure if he plays with UConn.
