Alex Caruso's college career: What did the OKC Thunder guard average at Texas A&M?

Chicago Bulls point guard Alex Caruso played for the Texas A&M Aggies. During his time there he earned an SEC All-Defensive Team selection in (2015) and a Second Team All-SEC selection (2016).

Caruso spent four seasons at College Station, during which he played 137 games and started 120. His point average for his entire career was 8.0. He also averaged 4.7 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.

The 2014-15 season was his best one point-wise, with him averaging 9.1 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. All of those career-high numbers. In 2015-16 he had slightly better free throws, three points, and field goal percentages.

Caruso would go undrafted in 2016 but joined the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Summer League. He didn't make it to the NBA that season but joined the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA Development League.

After a second season in the NBA Summer League, this time with the Los Angeles Lakers, he managed to make the jump to the NBA with the California franchise. He would go on to win the 2020 NBA championship with the Lakers. Caruso moved to Chicago in 2021.

Chicago Bulls about to trade Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Josh Giddey

According to reports by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Thursday, the Bulls are set to swap Alex Caruso for former No. 6 overall pick Josh Giddey. The Thunder would also get great value, as Alex Caruso is an NBA All-Defensive First Team (2023) and NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2024) selection.

Here's how Adrian Wojnarowski weighed on the value of the trade for Oklahoma City:

"The trade delivers the Thunder one of the league’s most coveted role players, a 30-year old guard who GM Sam Presti has long pursued for the Western Conference’s No. 1 seed.
Caruso’s arrival could be seen as an addition comparable to the Golden State Warriors acquisition of Andre Iguodala in 2013. Both were 30 years old."

Wojnarowski also revealed that he feels Giddey brings a solution for the Bulls, who have been trying to find a replacement for Lonzo Ball. He also ventured to say that the OKC player has All-Star potential.
