Kate Martin looks forward to playing in the WNBA postseason

Kate Martin chalked up another postseason stint for her young career on Sunday. In April, the six-foot guard was one of the top producers for the back-to-back NCAA women's basketball runners-up Iowa Hawkeyes. Now, she is part of the Aces playoff roster starting its three-peat bid against the Seattle Storm.

The 24-year-old second-round pick couldn't believe the situation she is in but is keen to make her first WNBA postseason appearance with the defending back-to-back champions.

"It’s crazy. Playing at Iowa feels so long ago but it also feels like just yesterday. It’s definitely crazy, but my sights are set on the postseason and winning," said Martin, as per the Edwardsville Intelligencer.

The guard didn't see action in the Aces' 78-67 Game 1 win over the Storm but still has a chance to play in Game 2 on Sept. 24 in Las Vegas. The third game, if necessary, will be played in Seattle on Sept. 26.

Martin, who averaged 2.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game during the regular season, expressed excitement about her first-ever postseason series, as high school and college tournaments follow a knockout-style format.

“It’s really exciting. It’s uncharted territory for me but not at the same time. I’ve never not been playing in a postseason before, but I’ve never been in a WNBA postseason before. I’m really excited to play a series and not have it one-and-done like college. I’m excited to go to battle with my teammates,” she said.

With two seasons of postseason experience in college tucked under her belt, Kate Martin is set to make her first run at WNBA glory.
