“Bryce still growing into his body”: Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony once shared thoughts on Lebron James’ son Bryce’s game
Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, holds a warm relationship with LeBron James' sons, Bronny and Bryce James. Kiyan is grateful that being the son of an NBA icon opened doors for him to form connections with other star kids, including the James brothers.
In an October 2023 interview by Overtime, Kiyan was asked about his thoughts on Bryce's game, who plays for Sierra Canyon School.
"Bryce, I feel like he's going to be good. Everybody I feel like expecting him to go out there and have 30, but just like Bronny, that's not the type of player that they are.
"They're going to play their role and stuff, and I feel like Bryce still growing into his body. He's going to be good. People try to push him down all the time and stuff. He got everything. He got the bounce. He could shoot. Once he gets a little bit handle, he's going to be good," Kiyan Anthony said.
The 6-foot-5 guard also shared what Bryce is like off the court.
"He cool. He mad cool off the court. You know we chop it up about pretty much anything, whether it's girls or basketball," Anthony added.
Bryce James, who turned 17 in June, has grown to 6-foot-6 and displayed flashes of his potential on the court. He caught the attention of hoop fans after an impressive display at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. He averaged 5.6 points with 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game in the tournament. He also moved up from 135th to 100th on On3's 2025 top basketball recruits list.
Kiyan Anthony and Bryce James played each other at Nike EYBL
NBA legends Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James had their sons paired up on the court since they were young. Thus, Kiyan has built a close bond with Bronny and Bryce.
However, he has also faced them on the court leading to a healthy rivalry. Kiyan, who plays for Team Melo in the AAU circuit, faced off against Bryce's team, Strive for Greatness (SFG), at the Nike EBYL Indiana in May.
The game drew a large crowd of spectators also because Carmelo and LeBron were at the venue supporting their sons. SFG secured a narrow 71-65 win.
Additionally, Kiyan Anthony and Bryce James joined forces last year at the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament, where they played for the Strive For Greatness 16U team.
