Can Haley and Hanna Cavinder declare for 2025 WNBA draft? Exploring draft eligibility

Miami Hurricanes guards Haley and Hanna Cavinder have been making waves on and off the court with their great basketball moves and trending styles that have rocked social media.

The 2024-25 season will be their fifth and final year in college basketball. Following this, Hanna and Haley Cavinder could be headed to the professional ranks. However, there is no confirmation yet if it is going to be in the WNBA or some other field.

Based on the 2024 WNBA draft rules, the twins have met the eligibility requirement wherein all NCAA players who turned 22 years old are eligible to renounce any remaining eligibility and opt into the WNBA draft. Therefore, the Cavinder twins can declare for the 2025 WNBA draft.

Unless the league amends its eligibility rules, the Cavinders are allowed to join the 2025 WNBA draft.

Haley Cavinder played 124 games for Miami and Fresno State and has career averages of 16.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game. She shot 41.7% from the field, including 36.0% from the 3-point line.

On the other hand, Hanna Cavinder suited up for 123 games and tallied 12.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3.2 apg and 1.4 spg. She shot 42.4% from the field and made 78.3% of her attempts from the free-throw line.

Cavinder twins return to Miami for final season

Hanna and Haley Cavinder are a few days away from starting their final year in college basketball. Their return to Miami couldn't have been possible if not for Hanna's change of heart.

The sisters felt they had something more to give to the sport. More importantly, the Cavinder twins said they wanted to fulfill unfinished business on the court together.

On Sunday's exhibition game against Palm Beach Atlantic, Haley Cavinder recorded a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double. Meanwhile, Hanna added 12 points, leading Miami to an 89-30 demolition of the Sailfish at the Watsco Center.

The Hurricanes open their regular season campaign against the Stetson Hatters on Monday morning at the Watsco Center, at 11 a.m. ET and host Jacksonville a week later.

Miami is ranked eighth in the ACC Preseason Poll. It is up to Tricia Cullop and her wards to prove the ACC media wrong with some excellent basketball.
