Chloe Kitts stats today - How did the South Carolina star fare vs Iowa State? (Nov 28)
Chloe Kitts saw limited action in the South Carolina Gamecocks' 76-36 win over the Iowa State Cyclones in the opener of the Fort Myers Tip-off Island Division at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Florida on Thursday.
The 6-foot-2 star played for 15 minutes and tallied six points, four rebounds and one assist. Kitts shot 2-of-5 from the field and 2-of-2 from free throws and Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley elected to rest her when the game was already settled in the third quarter.
The junior forward started the game and went to work early, scoring six quick points in the first period. Kitts scored on a 3-point play off a foul from Addy Brown, giving No. 4-ranked South Carolina a 6-3 lead.
She grabbed an offensive board and made a jumper in the next play. Iowa State's Sydney Harris fouled Kitts, who subsequently made a free throw, giving South Carolina a 9-3 lead with 6:23 remaining in the opening frame.
Kitts re-entered at the start of the second period and made her presence felt right away. She grabbed an offensive rebound and recorded an assist to Sania Feagin, who scored on a layup, giving South Carolina a 23-3 lead.
The forward would grab a defensive board off an Arianna Jackson miss from the 3-point line. Kitts committed two turnovers and missed a jumper in the third period and Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley subbed her out at the 5:04 mark when the team was on top, 37-18.
Spelling out Kitts early could be Staley's ploy to keep her starters fresh for Saturday's game against Purdue.
South Carolina scored the points in the next 15 minutes, scoring 39 to capture the Gamecocks' first win since UCLA snapped their 43-game winning streak on Sunday.
Here are Chloe Kitts' stats in South Carolina's win over Iowa State.
