Does Carmelo Anthony's son play football? Kiyan Anthony names his favorite position

Kiyan Anthony, a four-star shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class, said that football was his best sport after basketball. Kiyan, the son of 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony, said that he liked playing as a wide receiver.

Kiyan Anthony shared the views while appearing in the Sloane Knows 'podcast. The host asked him to name the best sport he liked other than basketball, and Anthony replied:

"Football"

When asked about the position he liked to play, Anthony shared:

"Wide receiver, for sure"

While Kiyan Anthony hasn't invested much time and effort in pursuing his passion for football, his love for basketball has given him name and fame. He averaged 21.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the 2024 Nike Peach Jam tournament.

He has received offers from 21 schools. In July, he trimmed the list to six schools he's interested in. Kiyan Anthony chose Syracuse, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Rutgers and USC.

While Carmelo Anthony tries to be strict while teaching his son on the court, he chooses to be liberal with the career choices of his son. Kiyan shared that his father didn't try to dictate his career choices, per People:

"(My father) never pushes me to go to Syracuse just because his name is on the gym. He did so much at Syracuse. He knows that I'm my own person. I've just got to make my own decision at the end of the day.”

Both Carmelo Anthony and La La share a deep emotional connection with their son. Though the two are divorced, they often come together for their Kiyan.

Kiyan Anthony is very close to his mom La La, a television personality. On Valentine's Day this year, he wrote a note for his mother, which La La shared on Instagram:

"Mom, you have been my Valentine for 16 years now...Thank you for everything you do words can't express how thankful I am to have you in my life."

He also got his arm tattooed with the face of his mother. Some people felt that it was an example of deep love for a mother, while others found it strange.

Kiyan also shares a warm relationship with his dad. According to La La, Kiyan is the No.1 fan of his father.
