"Give Cooper Flagg a call": Duke Football has bold suggestion for Kawhi Leonard's replacement in Team USA Olympics team
The Team USA Olympics team has been getting ready for the mega event in Paris. However, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported on Wednesday that Kawhi Leonard was withdrawing from the team.
Team USA is going to have to replace that roster spot and fans on social media have been discussing who could take Leonard's place. Some have mentioned the possibility that incoming freshman for the Duke Blue Devils, Cooper Flagg should get the nod. Even the Blue Devils' official account on X let out this view.
"Just let Cooper Flagg suit up," one person commented.
"Look, I love derrick white as much as the next defense sicko, but cooper flagg would have turned me into a mf patriot," another user responded.
However, it seems that the roster spot will be given to Boston Celtics' guard Derrick White.
"Either Cooper flagg needs to take the christian laettner charity sot or give it to jaylen brown," one commenter wrote.
"DERRICK WHITE? wtf? at the very least throw cooper flagg in there like team USA has done in the past with tantalizing prospects," another X commenter responded.
While it seems likely that Cooper Flagg is not going to be heading to Paris for the Olympics, he can showcase his talents as a member of the Team USA Select team.
What should people expect out of Cooper Flagg with the Duke Blue Devils?
Duke Blue Devils incoming freshman Cooper Flagg has been one of the most hyped prospects heading into the 2024 college basketball season. The team is going to need to improve as they lost forward Kyle Filipowski and guard Jared McCain to the 2024 NBA Draft.
That means Flagg is going to be asked to perform at an outstanding level. While competing at the Montverde Academy Eagles last season, he finished with 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.6 steals per game.
While Flagg's abilities are likely going to be one of the best in the sport, he is going to be competing against some of the toughest programs in the nation.
Though he should continue to dominate on the court, his collegiate basketball journey will show a different level of what Cooper Flagg can really do.
