How many points did Bronny James average in college: Deep dive into LeBron James' son's career at USC

The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bronny James with the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. It is now more than likely that he will be teaming up with his father, LeBron James.

However, his freshman season with the USC Trojans did not see him putting the best foot forward in terms of production.

During his 25 games (six starts) with USC, Bronny James averaged 4.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.8 assists per game. His shooting numbers were not as effective as you'd like to see either. He shot 36.6% overall, 26.7% from beyond the arc and 67.6% from the charity stripe.

It is important to note that Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest last July and was able to return in mid-December and struggled to get his footing. It will be interesting to see how he does with a full offseason to prepare as he takes his career to the professional ranks of the NBA.

What should people expect out of Bronny James' rookie season?

The rookie season for Bronny James is going to have a lot of hype and excitement around for obvious reasons. However, do not expect to see him be on the court for a lot of time with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Instead, he will most likely be playing in the G League to continue his development as that is what a significant amount of second-round draft choices do.

There will be moments though where Bronny James will play for the Lakers, on the court with LeBron James. Coach JJ Reddick has the ability to coach up some young talents and will certainly help him develop.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding Lakers having Bronny James on the roster. Will he be in the conversation for the NBA Rookie of the Year? Likely not.

However, it does not mean that Bronny James is going to be a disappointment. This draft choice is more focused on the future and getting him to a point where he can be a constant player who can develop in Year 3 with the Lakers.
