How tall was Duke's Cooper Flagg in 8th grade?

Duke freshman phenom Cooper Flagg stood at 6'7" in his 8th grade.

Flagg, who played for Nokomis Regional High School in Maine was already drawing interest from Division I colleges due to his elite combination of size, skills and athleticism at such a young age.

This video by BallisLife 2.0, posted in 2021, shows a 14-year-old Flagg in action during the Zero Gravity Maine State Championship.

Cooper Flagg's height

Cooper Flagg has been measured 6-foot-9 ahead of his debut college season with the Blue Devils — a two-inch increase from his junior high listing.

However, several sites have reported Flagg with different height measurements, leading to some confusion about the player's true stature.

USA Basketball listed the projected NBA top pick at 6'8 after he represented Team USA at the 2022 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup. Meanwhile, Yahoo Sports reported Flagg as 6-foot-10 in some instances.

Before transferring to the top-ranked Montverde Academy in Florida, Flagg spent his freshman year attending Nokomis Regional High School, a local school in his home state of Maine. He also played in AAU circuits for Maine United alongside his twin brother Ace Flagg, who was measured 6-6 in 8th grade.

Cooper Flagg's family and their heights

Cooper Flagg has four other members in his family - his parents, Ralph and Kelly Flagg, and two brothers, Hunter and Ace.

Basketball seemingly runs in the Flagg family. Both his mother and father, Kelly and Ralph Flagg, played at Nokomis. Ralph, a 6-foot-9, was a player for Eastern Maine Community College. After college, Ralph joined a men’s league at the community center, where he met Kelly, Cooper’s mom.

At 5-foot-10, Kelly is one of the best athletes to come out of Nokomis High. She later played for the Maine Black Bears and after retiring, became a coach for the Nokomis varsity girls team.

Flagg's twin brother Ace Flagg, who recently made his commitment to UMaine, is reportedly 6'7, per 247Sports. However, ESPN lists him as 6'8.

Cooper Flagg height in 8th grade compared to other NBA stars

LeBron James was not as tall as Flagg when he was in junior high. At 13, LeBron was around six feet tall, before hitting a major growth spurt. Now, he stands at 6'9", which is the same height as Flagg.

Even French big man Victor Wembanyama was only 5'11 at 13 playing for Nanterr's youth system. Victor now towers at 7 ft 3 in, one of the tallest players in the NBA right now.

Flagg is only 17, so he might still grow a bit taller as he keeps growing and developing physically.
