"I didn't really understand the game yet": Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan once revealed the most exciting team his dad played for
A young Kiyan Anthony once revealed that the Denver Nuggets were the most exciting team his father and Syracuse legend Carmelo Anthony ever played for.
On the "Day In The Life with Kiyan Anthony" posted on YouTube on Dec. 6, 2021, Anthony explained his choice, saying that he was a child back then and hadn't fully understood the game.
"The (Denver) Nuggets... I was young (back then). I didn't really understand the game yet," Kiyan Anthony said (3:44).
As he grew older, he noted that the New York Knicks were more exciting due to the action-packed atmosphere at Madison Square Garden.
"The (New York) Knicks? Yeah, that's my favorite. Madison Square Garden is active—packed seats. Even if the seats have covers, when he was there it was all packed," he added (3:49)
Kiyan Anthony also mentioned that he patterned his game on the former NBA star and Syracuse legend, even trying to copy some of Carmelo Anthony's patented moves. However, he admitted that imitating his father's moves was tough, citing the difference in their talents.
Kiyan Anthony strives to work on his skills to be a great player like his father
Kiyan Anthony is motivated by his father's long basketball career, playing for various teams in the NBA before hanging up his basketball sneakers in 2023.
Carmelo Anthony started as a highly touted college prospect who led Syracuse Orange to the 2003 national championship. The 6-foot-7 player, who was picked third overall in the 2003 NBA draft, was a scorer during his stints in Denver and New York.
Following his stint with the Knicks, he played for Oklahoma City. Houston, Portland and the LA Lakers and was a valuable contributor off the bench. He still averaged in double figures despite his diminished role.
Learning from his father's career path, Kiyan Anthony uses that as a motivation to work on his skills to become an all-around player, which he believes would help him stay longer in the professional leagues, particularly the NBA.
On Sunday, Kiyan and Carmelo Anthony visited Big 10 Conference school USC. He took several photos wearing the USC gear (per Bleacher Report).
Aside from USC, the top shooting guard prospect in New York and No. 34 overall in 247 Sports rankings lists Syracuse, Rutgers, Florida State, Ohio State and Auburn as his final six schools. Kiyan will make his final decision on which college he will play in November.
