IN PICS: Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin flash Big 10 and Final Four rings after a fun weekend at Iowa
Former Iowa Hawkeyes Caitlin Clark and teammate Kate Martin flashed their Big 10 and Final Four rings in a ceremony on Saturday. Clark, the NCAA's all-time leading scorer, and Martin, the team's third-leading scorer last season, received the hardware during Iowa's homecoming event.
Last season's Iowa Hawkeyes secured the Big Ten Tournament and a spot in the Final Four, making it to the championship game for the second consecutive year.
Iowa gave Clark, Martin and the rest of the Hawkeyes rings for their Big Ten and Final Four achievements. The X (formerly Twitter) account of Iowa's women's basketball team posted photos of the pair with the caption:
"Ring ‘em 💍"
Aside from Clark and Martin, Gabbie Marshall was also present at the ring-presentation ceremony.
The fun didn't end there as the university honored its women's basketball team during Iowa's home football game against Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday. During the broadcast, Clark and Martin were interviewed in front of a packed crowd at Kinnick Stadium.
Martin, who now plays for the Las Vegas Aces, praised the Hawkeye Nation for the support they provided to the 2023-24 team.
Caitlin Clark describes her experience playing against Kate Martin in the WNBA
Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball icon and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark described the experience of playing against former teammate Kate Martin in the WNBA as fun, even though she did not get the results she wanted.
The Las Vegas Aces won all four games against the Fever during the 2024 regular season, and Clark quipped that everything in the WNBA was fun — except losing to Martin.
"Well, minus the four times I lost to Kate, pretty good," Clark said. (per SI's Women's Fastbreak)
"But it was fun. Obviously, getting to live out your dream ... was pretty cool, and getting to see Kate do it as well, after being pretty under the radar, is fun with one of my best friends."
The Iowa women's basketball team will return to action on Oct. 30 as they play Missouri Western in an exhibition game at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
A week later, Iowa begins its non-conference regular season campaign against Northern Illinois on Nov. 6, also at 7:30 p.m. ET.
