Julian Reese Stats Last Night: How did Angel Reese's brother fare vs Alcorn? (Dec. 1)

Julian Reese recorded a double-double as Maryland powered past winless Alcorn State with a commanding 96-58 victory in a nonconference matchup on Sunday afternoon.

Reese dominated in the paint early, capitalizing on his size advantage over an Alcorn State roster lacking a player taller than 6-foot-8. In the first five minutes, he scored four points from free throws drawn on paint fouls, grabbed three rebounds and blocked two shots.

Reese wrapped up the game with an impressive stat line: 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. He shot 10-of-12 from the free-throw line, 2-of-4 from the field and committed no fouls in just 19 minutes of play.

This performance marked his fifth consecutive game scoring in double figures and his 25th career double-double, tying him with Bruno Fernando and Jordan Williams for the most by a Maryland player since the 2010-11 season. It was also his third double-double of the season, positioning him fifth in program history for career double-doubles since 1996-97.

Now in his senior year, Reese continues to shine, particularly against undersized opponents. Last season, he notched 15 double-doubles, ranking second in the Big Ten and ninth nationally during the regular season. His efforts earned him an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention, and he is now a contender for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award.

Team effort propels Maryland

Maryland showcased its offensive firepower, shooting 57% from the field (32-of-56), hitting 11-of-23 three-pointers and converting 21-of-24 free throws. The Terrapins (7-1) tallied 25 assists on 32 made baskets and outrebounded Alcorn State 44-31.

Five players scored in double figures: Derik Queen led with 20 points, followed by Rodney Rice (12), Julian Reese (14), Selton Miguel (14) and DeShawn Harris-Smith (10). This game marked Maryland’s fifth 30-point win in just eight games—the first time they achieved such a feat this early since the 1998-99 season.
