Lamont Butler was one of the bright spots in the Kentucky Wildcats' 87-68 victory over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in the BBN Invitational on Tuesday at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
Butler tallied 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 28 minutes to help the Wildcats keep their unbeaten 6-0 slate intact. The 6-foot-2 senior shot 3-of-9 from the field and made 8-of-12 attempts from free throws in an awesome night for Kentucky, who led by 12 points in the first half and never looked back.
The San Diego State transfer tallied five points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal in the first 20 minutes. He made two layups and a free throw in the opening minutes, as the Wildcats raced to a 45-33 advantage.
Butler picked up the slack in the second half, scoring nine points — on seven free throws and a layup — to solidify the Wildcats' assault and seal the victory. He also tallied two rebounds and three assists during that span.

Andrew Carr and Otega Oweh scored 18 points each while Lamont Butler contributed 14 as Kentucky outplayed Western Kentucky to secure its sixth straight victory.
Carr, who pulled down 10 rebounds for a double-double, was 6-of-8 from the field and had the same clip from the free throw line to complete the win. The 6-foot-11 forward came up with three assists and one block in 30 minutes of action for the Mark Pope-coached team.
Oweh shot 6-of-14 from the field, including 1-of-3 from the 3-point line. The 6-foot-4 guard also made 5-of-6 attempts from the foul line as the Wildcats went 29-of-42 for a 69.0% clip. He also came up with four rebounds in 32 minutes.
Koby Brea put up nine points and three rebounds, while Kerr Kriisa, Jaxson Robinson and Amari Williams contributed eight each for Kentucky, who limited the Hilltoppers to 31.8% shooting from the field and 15.4% from the 3-point area.
Kentucky ruled the rebounding battle (54-41) and led in the assists department (16-7). The Wildcats also recorded seven blocks, with four coming from Williams.
Mark Pope's squad will return to the court in three days when they host the Georgia State Panthers at Rupp Arena on Friday.
