Marquette vs Wisconsin prediction, odds, & picks for Dec. 7 | College Basketball Season 2024-25

A Big East versus Big Ten matchup is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, between the Marquette Golden Eagles and the Wisconsin Badgers. To be held at the Fiserv Forum, this will be the 10th game of the 2024-2025 season for both of the teams who possess similar 8-1 records.

Along with identical W-L columns, both squads also just suffered their first defeats of the year. This past Wednesday, Dec. 4, the Golden Eagles succumbed to the Iowa State Cyclones by double digits, 81-70. On the other hand, the Badgers were handed a loss by the Michigan Wolverines by a tight three points, 67-64, last Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Marquette and Wisconsin will be vying for their ninth win of the campaign on Saturday. Let's take a look how the evenly-matched fixture is shaping up.

Marquette vs. Wisconsin prediction

Should either one of the two teams lose, they'll be receiving their second tally in the losing standings and may be set back a few places as conference play is nearing.

Both rosters are led by senior guards namely Kam Jones (Marquette) and John Tonje (Wisconsin). Jones brings the production of an all-around facilitator to his team, averaging 19 points, 5 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.4 steals a game. Meanwhile, Tonje is more of a combo permeter player, posting up 22.3 markers, 5.8 boards, and 1.8 assists per contest.

Some of Marquette's X-factors include swingman David Joplin, who leads the team in rebounds and blocks, and 6'3 Stevie Mitchell, who is pacing himself with 2.7 steals per game while going 58.3% on his three-point attempts. On Wisconsin's side, it's going to have to be forward Steven Crowl due to his knack for dishing out assists and guard Kamari McGee, who connects on 52.6% of his three-balls.

The two teams are balanced in terms of going against one another, as Marquette and Wisconsin average around 82.9 points a game. The Golden Eagles' advantage lies in their ability to swipe the basketball, as they are currently tallying 11.4 steals a night as opposed to the Badgers' 6.3.

In other categories such as rebounds, assists, and blocks, both teams can go toe-to-toe against each other. But, Marquette's tenacity on frontcourt defense may just be enough for them to leave Milwaukee with the win.
