"Me being friends with Bronny and Bryce James": La La Anthony's son Kiyan Anthony once shared biggest perks of having NBA father & actress mom in life
Kiyan Anthony and Bronny James have been friends since childhood due to the close relationship between their fathers Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James, respectively. Kiyan, whose mother is actress La La, once spoke about the advantages of having famous parents.
In July 2023, Overtime dropped a series of episodes of "The Evolu7ion," which explored the life of Kiyan Anthony. In episode one, he spoke about growing alongside the sons of King James.
"Me and my dad behind the scenes is another father-son relationship," Kiyan said.
"I feel like since he's in the NBA and my mom being an actress it opens more doors for all of us especially like me being friends with Bronny and Bryce it's just all opportunities all the work that he's put in I've watched it for all the years but now it's time for me to reciprocate that same energy." Bronny James and Kiyan Anthony, who once played against each other in high school, might soon compete in the NBA, just like their fathers did.
Kiyan talked about the experience of seeing Bronny get drafted into the NBA during an appearance on '7PM in Brooklyn' podcast.
"It was fire," Kiyan said [5:47]. "Just to know that he started it, and I got a chance to follow, not follow him, but get to where he's at in the league. That's fire. I texted him everything. We was on the phone. That's really fire. Especially him playing with his pops. That's crazy. That's so crazy to me.
"We could play against each other like we played in high school," Kiyan added. "I was only a freshman and he was a senior but now that we could get to the league and play against each other that, it's crazy to just think about."
Kiyan Anthony faced off against Bryce James at Nike EYBL
Kiyan Anthony already had the opportunity to play against LeBron James' sons, Bronny and Bryce James. Kiyan, who plays for Team Melo in the AAU circuit, competed against Bryce's team, Strive for Greatness (SFG), during Nike EBYL Indiana in May.
The game was an instant classic, as LeBron and Carmelo were both in the courtside seats, supporting their respective sons. SFG won the close encounter 71-65.
"I mean we play SFG, Bryce's James team. They were trying to see me versus Bryce James but they got a top-five player on their team," Kiyan said, expressing his disappointment that the game did not go as expected.
Kiyan and Bryce teamed up last year at the Las Vegas Big Time Tournament, where they played for the Strive For Greatness 16U team.
