Meleek Thomas college offers: List of coaches in contention for 5-star explored feat. Dan Hurley, John Calipari
Meleek Thomas is viewed as one of the most sought-after prospects in the Class of 2025. The likes of Dan Hurley and John Calipari are in pursuit of the high school star's services.
According to 247Sports, he is the top shooting guard in the 2025 class and ranked 11th in the country.
With many powerhouses having Thomas on their radars, it would be logical to believe that top coaches are doing everything possible to convince him to join their programs. Whether it's using the appeal of playing time, location or learning from an elite coach while getting high-quality development, there are many lures that teams can use to acquire his talents.
Here are five coaches who are in contention to land Meleek Thomas.
Coaches in pursuit of Meleek Thomas
UConn: Dan Hurley
It shouldn't be a surprise to see the current two-time NCAA champion coach on this list. After all, he gauged the interest of Meleek Thomas months ago.
According to 247Sports, Thomas made an official visit on June 19. He could take his talents to a program where he will be developed by someone seen as arguably the best coach in college basketball.
Arkansas: John Calipari
Of the programs on the list, Arkansas happens to be the most recent stop for Thomas. He visited the Razorbacks' campus on Oct. 4, seeing what John Calipari and the program have to offer him.
The program is retooling under Calipari, beginning his tenure after the Razorbacks fired Eric Musselman after a 16-17 display last season. However, the upside Thomas would have while learning from one of the most experienced coaches in the sport could prove wonders for the highly-regarded prospect.
Alabama: Nate Oats
Should Meleek Thomas wish to stay in the Southeast region of the U.S., joining the Crimson Tide could provide him that comfort. He visited Alabama's campus on Sept. 27, seeing the appeal Nate Oats and the team would have if he were to commit to them.
The Crimson Tide are coming off their first Final Four appearance, indicating that a major step has been taken to elevate the standard of the basketball program. It is possible that Thomas could see himself in that picture of bringing Alabama to glory.
Auburn: Bruce Pearl
Another program in the Southeast region that Thomas has an interest in is Auburn.
Thomas made an official visit on Jan. 12, finding appeal in what the Tigers could bring to him with the quality they have on the roster as well as their coaching staff being led by Bruce Pearl.
With Auburn having been on the cusp of national title contention in past years, Thomas could be the piece it has been looking for.
Kansas: Bill Self
Last but not least, having a blue blood on the radar would make sense for Meleek Thomas. That blue blood would be Kansas.
Thomas has not made an official visit to the campus, but he does hold an offer as the idea of playing for one of the best coaches in college basketball like Bill Self could present intrigue for the young star. Should he envision himself in the role Kansas would want for him and believe that he can flourish in it, the Jayhawks may be a team to watch out for in the near future.
