$340 million worth Serena Williams & Flau'jae Johnson snaps together with family at New Orleans in fun meetup
LSU star Flau'jae Johnson bumped into legendary tennis player Serena Williams and her family in New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday. Johnson shared pictures of their fun meetup on Instagram, taken in front of Gray Line Worldwide.
Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam winner, was walking down the street with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, and their two daughters, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. and Adira River. The family had a great time meeting with Johnson.
"Aspire To Inspire Before You Expire. This is why women’s sports is important. See Ya Soon For Our First Workout Olympia," Johnson captioned the post.
Flau'jae Johnson, who recently released her first album, gave her signed LSU jersey to Alexis Olympia Jr. They fist-bumped, and Olympia Jr. was thrilled to receive the jersey.
Johnson also mentioned that she will soon have some training sessions with Olympia to help her dominate on the court. Besides, she also took pictures with Serena and Alexis Sr.
Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, commented on Johnson's post saying that this marks the beginning of many exciting things to come from their collaboration, Johnson replied with a simple "thank you."
Williams, arguably one of the best female tennis players, retired from the sport in September 2022. During her nearly three-decade-long career, Williams won 73 titles, including 23 Grand Slam singles titles.
Flau'jae Johnson on her relationship with coach Kim Mulkey
Flau'jae Johnson launched a new podcast titled 'Best of Both Worlds' last week. She invited her mother, Kia J Brooks, and Breanna Stewart as the first guest on the show.
Johnson has been pursuing both her basketball career and singing career simultaneously for quite some time now. She mentioned that Coach Mulkey has been supportive of her journey.
"Me, that's my coach, and I love coach Kim. She believed in me when nobody believed in me, "Johnson told On3. "When I was in my recruiting process, every school told me you've got to pick music or you've got to pick basketball, but she didn't. She let me be who I wanted to be. She supported me all the way."
Johnson averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game for the Tigers in the 2023-24 season. Now that star players from the previous campaign, Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith, have departed, Johnson will take on the central role as a new face of Kim Mulkey's team.
