4-star recruit King Grace commits to Mississippi State as part of 2025 recruitment class

Mississippi State received a boost for its 2025 class, securing the commitment of four-star shooting guard King Grace. The six-foot-five shooting guard made the announcement on Sunday evening on the 247 Sports Channel.

That made the Oak Cliff (Texas) Faith Family Academy student-athlete the second player from next year's class to commit for coach Chris Jans' team.

Grace, the No. 46-ranked high school recruit, chose the Bulldogs over college basketball suitors Cincinnati, LSU, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU and Texas A&M due to his long relationship with the school's staff on-and-off the court.

"They have been with me the longest. I have the best relationship with the staff on and off the court. Their style of play was big for me and I like the school," Grace said.

It was the third 2025 class commitment for Mississippi State following the initial signups by three-star center Chol Machot and shooting guard Cameren Paul. The addition of Grace has propelled the Bulldogs' 2025 class to 11th place, as per 247 Sports.

Grace averaged 19.9 points per game in the 2024 UAA season. He shot 49% from the field and made 81% of his foul shots. His primary offensive weapon is his jumpshot, and he picks his spots well.

Mississippi State seeks third-straight NCAA Tournament bid

The Mississippi State Bulldogs aim to secure their third consecutive NCAA Tournament berth under coach Chris Jans. However, they failed to make it past the first round, losing to Michigan State in their Round-of-64 encounter in Charlotte.

The team also hopes to gain its first March Madness win since 2008, and to achieve so, Jans strengthened his team during the offseason. He first secured the returns of leading scorer Josh Hubbard and All-SEC defensive team member Cameron Matthews.

He and his staff also recruited from the transfer portal, getting the commitments of guards Kanye Clary, RJ Melendez, Riley Kugel and Claudell Harris Jr. and centers Jeremy Foumena and Michael Nwoko.

Mississippi State opens its 2024-25 college basketball season at home against West Georgia on Nov. 4 and will have notable nonconference games against ACC foes Pittsburgh and SMU.

The Bulldogs will begin league play on Jan. 4, 2025 against South Carolina at the Humphrey Stadium.
