“Ain’t nun new”: Carolina Panthers RB reacts to Flau'jae Johnson’s 30-point show out vs. Xavier

Flau'jae Johnson stole the show in the LSU Tigers' exhibition game against the Xavier Gold Nuggets on Thursday, leading her team to a 114-53 victory. She recorded an impressive double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Her performance caught the attention of Jonathon Brooks, the Carolina Panthers' second-round pick in this year's NFL draft. The running back, who is recovering from an ACL injury suffered in his final college football game for the Texas Longhorns last November, shared a story on Instagram to celebrate Johnson's impressive effort.

"@flaujae shiii ain't nun new," wrote Brooks.

Last season, Johnson made the All-SEC Second Team, while helping the Tigers reach the Elite Eight. She averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.0 blocks in 36 games.

Johnson picked up right where she left off last season, looking sharp against the Gold Nuggets yesterday. She connected with 13 of 19 field goal attempts and two of four three-point attempts. She was also the only player on the Tigers to make a block in the entire game.

Besides Flau'jae, other players from the Tigers also made their mark in the massive win over the Gold Nuggets. Morrow also recorded a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, making seven of 15 field goal attempts. Freshman Jada Richard impressed by connecting with four of six from the field and both of her three-point attempts to record 14 points.

Jersey Wolfenbarger and Mjracle Shepperd, who transferred from Arkansas and Mississippi State respectively during the offseason, also got into the act, scoring 12 points each.

The Tigers, who lost star forward Angel Reese to the Chicago Sky in this year's WNBA draft, currently rank 7th in AP's Top 25 poll. Kim Mulkey and her roster will be keen to return to the top after failing to defend their national championship last season.

The Tigers will face the LSU-Alexandria Generals in their final exhibition game at Baton Rouge on October 30. They will then kick off the 2024-25 season with a home game against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on November 4.
