Alex Karaban stats tonight - How did UConn forward fare vs New Hampshire (Nov 9)

UConn junior forward Alex Karaban continued to provide leadership for the Huskies in the first two games of the 2024-25 college basketball season.

He played well for the second straight game for UConn, who won 92-53 over New Hampshire on Saturday night at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

Karaban scored his first two points on two free throws at the 16:21 mark of the first half. The 6-foot-8 forward finally gave the Huskies the lead at 15-13 with a triple with 9:12 left.

That's the only field goal Karaban had in the half as he'll score the next four points on foul shots with a minute left in the half.

The veteran dished off two assists in the first half. His first dime allowed Jayden Ross to score on a layup and give UConn a 17-13 advantage and the other was a pass to Tarris Reed, who subsequently made a jumper with 2:01 left in the opening frame.

Karaban also provided great non-scoring stats, recording two rebounds and three blocks in 18 minutes in the first half.

In the second half, the Southborough, Massachusetts native buried a 3-pointer that pushed the lead to 12 at 38-26. He made another triple that gave UConn a 43-30 cushion with 17:02 remaining.

Karaban scored his 17th point on a layup that hiked the lead to 27, 68-41. He had an opportunity to score his 18th point but missed on the bonus charity.

The junior was subbed out at the four-minute mark of the second half with UConn leading 80-50.

Karaban finished with 17 points, on 4-of-8 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-pointers. He was 6-of-7 from free throws.

Huskies vs Wildcats game recap: UConn bucks slow start, devours Wildcats for 2nd straight win

UConn bucked a slow start to beat New Hampshire and grabbed its second straight win on Saturday.

Alex Karaban led five Huskies players in double figures with 17 points while Jayden Ross and Solo Ball added 14 apiece.

Michigan transfer Tarris Reed Jr had his second-straight game in double figures with 11 while freshman Liam McNeeley added 10 points and 11 rebounds for UConn, who scored 57 points in the second half to make amends for its bad production in the first 20 minutes.

The Huskies clamped down on their defense in the next 20 minutes, allowing the Wildcats to score 29 points. UConn shot 50.8% from the field and 76% from free throws to complete the rout.

Anthony McComb III top-scored for New Hampshire (1-2) with 17 points, three rebounds and one steal. Sami Pissis added 15 markers, on 6-of-17 shooting, four rebounds and three assists for the Wildcats.
