“Angel on earth”: College hoops fans touched after Azzi Fudd’s heartwarming gesture for special fan

Azzi Fudd played in front of her family and friends on Saturday when the Huskies faced the Georgetown Hoyas in Washington, D.C. Even though it took Fudd four minutes to collect her first points of the game, the senior thrilled the fans by showcasing her offensive arsenal. She led UConn with 21 points on 8 of 13 shooting, helping defeat the Hoyas 73-55.

The most heartwarming moment came afterward when a video surfaced revealing Fudd using ASL to interact with a deaf fan. The caption on the video revealed that the UConn guard went to school with the fan's sister and had learned American Sign Language specifically to be able to interact with them.

Azzi Fudd reacts to playing in Washington, DC

While UConn has visited Georgetown eight times in the last three years, the senior guard's chance to suit up at home was robbed by injuries. With this, Azzi Fudd shared the significance of leading the Huskies to a win in her first game back home.

"I mean, it feels incredible," Fudd said. "Any game with my teammates is incredible. Gettingoto be surrounded by extra family tonight, it's really special."
"This is the first time I'm actually looking into the crowd to see who's here, I'm like, 'Wow, they came.' I haven't seen some of these faces in so long. So, it's just a special moment."

Azzi Fudd's offensive masterclass showcased her bag inside the arc in the first half, garnering nine points. She displayed her sharpshooting skills in the second half, hitting four 3-pointers in the stretch.
