"Tell them girls to drop the phone at the door": Angel Reese gives Carmelo's son Kiyan Anthony a reality check on college privacy, suggests "NDAs"
Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan Anthony is very close to making his commitment to college basketball with only three teams left to consider: Syracuse, USC, and Auburn.
Anthony, the No. 1 player in New York, joined Angel Reese on Thursday's episode of her podcast "Unapologetically Angel." The two discussed life going into college and the former LSU star also gave him some advice on how to handle certain situations.
When Reese asked Anthony what he is most excited about when it comes to college life, the high schooler mentioned attending football games.
"The football games. I've been to college football games, as a student. I've never been like after when they be winning and the whole campus be lit," Kiyan said. [26:20 onwards]
Reese quickly jumped in and told him things might not go as he expected.
"You think that? No, you're not going to be able to go on how you think," she said.
Kiyan Anthony went on to describe his perfect college life, saying he would have his own friend group and little get-togethers.
But Reese gave him a reality check on how difficult his life might be and how important it will be to maintain his privacy.
"You can't be having anybody over there," she replied. "You need to tell them girls to drop that phone at the door ..., "You have to make people start sign an NDA."
"That's what my mom told me," Kiyan said. "But yeah, I'm looking forward to just being on campus. I know I'm not going to be able to move."
Kiyan Anthony shares the crucial factor in his college decision
Kiyan Anthony cut down his list of offers to three schools in October. He is now reportedly considering choosing one between his father's alma mater Syracuse, Auburn and USC.
"Just what coaches have been on me the latest and where I can go in right away and see growth, where I can develop my game and just try to win," Anthony said [via Unapologetically Angel]. "Whatever the coaches are telling me, where they can see my playing, what my role is."
Earlier this summer, Kiyan Anthony mentioned his dad was not swaying his decision and letting him make the final call.
"My dad always tells me, 'Don't feel like you got to go to Syracuse because I went there. Really look into these colleges and choose where you want to go.' So, that's what I'm really looking forward to doing," Kiyan told On3.
Anthony will play his final high school basketball season at Long Island Lutheran in New York. He previously played for Christ the King High School in Queens.
