"Arkansas robbed"; "How is UGA not ranked": College hoops fans express frustration over Week 7 AP Poll results
Gonzaga is out of the top 10, Arkansas is nowhere to be seen and Kansas sits at No. 8 in the latest AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll that was updated on Monday.
While the same programs dominate the top as last week, the biggest changes come in Oregon’s climb to the top 10 behind a 10-1 record. It is the Ducks’ highest ranking since the 2019 season when it clinched a No. 4 spot.
Moreover, the latest AP poll features eight teams from the Southeastern Conference alone. Along with the top-ranked Tennessee, Kentucky (No. 4) and Auburn (No. 2) also feature in the top five.
College hoops fans on social media believe that a few teams were undeservingly snubbed off the latest AP poll and shared their thoughts in the comments section:
"Arkansas robbed," a fan wrote.
"26, 27, and 28 are also sec teams that one could argue should be ranked," another fan commented.
"MIZZOU should be ranked now in the top 25. Next week for certain!!!!!" another fan wrote.
More fans joined in with their takes on the latest rankings:
"Georgia Arkansas Miz and Mississippi State all have cases too," a fan commented.
"How is uga not ranked aren’t they like 12-2 or sum like that," another fan wrote.
"Auburn is living so rent free in Vols fan’s heads it’s insane," one fan added.
John Calipari's Arkansas eye AP ranking
This week, the Razorbacks earned the No. 27 rank behind back-to-back neutral site wins against No. 14 Michigan and Central Arkansas.
However, John Calipari has yet to instill consistency within the roster. The team has showcased its talent at times but has also lacked cohesion. The Razorbacks are under a new coach, have only one returning player from the previous season (Trevon Brazile) and are dealing with injuries.
Their biggest voting boost this week was the close 89-87 win over Michigan, resulting in an 18-point second-half comeback. However, Calipari is still finding out his team's identity.
"We haven't even touched what we're going to be," Calipari said via Arkansas Online after defeating the Michigan Wolverines.
With that, the Razorbacks, behind two unranked contests with North Carolina A&T and Oakland, can maintain an upward trajectory on the AP rankings. The Hogs will then face the No. 1 Tennessee on the road on Jan. 3 with the potential of entering the top Associated Press rankings.
