Auburn signee Kaden Magwood gets a warm hug from coach Bruce Pearl during game vs. RWE
Auburn Tigers signee Kaden Magwood and head coach Bruce Pearl shared a heartwarming moment on Saturday. As Magwood watched the final minutes of his Blue Checks team battle against the RWE from the sidelines, Pearl approached the youngster for a warm hug from behind.
It was the Blue Checks' second loss to RWE. The first loss came in the first leg of back-to-back on Saturday. Magwood hit a corner 3-pointer earlier in the game out of an inbound pass and made an ISO 3-pointer over Parker Robinson.
Josiah Parker led the Blue Checks with 31 points, 16 rebounds and four assists in the losing 110-87 endeavor.
Magwood is coming off of a monster outing on Dec. 4, posting 41 points, five rebounds and two steals against Jelly Fam. Moreover, the last time Magwood faced the key players of RWE was when he played for the Drifty Elite.
What will Kaden Magwood bring to Bruce Pearl's program?
Kaden Magwood chose Auburn over Kansas Jayhawks, Memphis Tigers, USC Trojans, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss, Kentucky and more than 20 other programs. He took no time to yield his commitment, with his signing announced by Auburn on Nov. 14.
Currently, there are 10 seniors on Bruce Pearl's squad. The Louisville native is expected to be a great addition to Tahaad Pettiford and Jahki Howard, potentially helping Auburn kick things off things in the right direction.
Magwood’s confidence and swagger can help steer both the locker room and the fans. The guard is an elite shooter from long-range, something he can utilize to create immediate impact on the collegiate level.
He can also create his own shots. Not only will it force the defense to be honest, but the skillset also harbors the potential to be a playmaker/distributor for Bruce Pearl.
A four-star, 6-foot-1 guard, Magwood has been one of the fastest-growing names in high school basketball and recruitment over the last year. He is currently ranked as the No. 60 overall prospect by On3, No. 15 among shooting guards across the nation and second in North Carolina. ESPN holds him at 86th overall and 10th among shooting guard.
