"Bronny James couldn't handle playing for UConn" — John Fanta cancels on LeBron James' son hours before 2024 NBA Draft

With the 2024 NBA Draft upon us, Bronny James remains firmly in the spotlight. But many are curious about where he will end up.

Bronny, a potential second-round pick, is expected to be picked by the Los Angeles Lakers. CBS Sports Kyle Boone agrees, as he projects James as the 55th overall pick by the Lakers on his final mock draft.

However, sports analyst John Fanta doubted whether Bronny is prepared for the NBA and insisted he should still be in college. When asked if Dan Hurley would recruit Bronny to UConn, Fanta said Bronny would struggle with the Huskies.

"No, because Bronny James couldn't handle playing for UConn. Well, his dad [LeBron] said that he is better than some NBA players that he's gone up against, who's not right...We gotta be honest here. Bronny James is not ready to be a marquee college player, nor alone an NBA player." Fanta said, on "The Carton Show."

Fanta believes Bronny does not have the skills and experience to succeed at that level. He argues that despite LeBron James’ admiration for his son, Bronny is nowhere near ready to excel in college or the NBA. He also feels Bronny is unlikely to have a long career in the NBA.

"Bronny James, I feel bad for him because he is not an NBA-ready player. It is in his best interest to come back to college and potentially somewhere else," Fanta added.
"But play for a good program and develop. He needs to be at the college level and developing. He is not ready for the NBA. He'll get overwhelmed by NBA players."

Chris Russo says Bronny James is not the most interesting player in NBA Draft

Nicknamed "Mad Dog," Chris Russo argued with Stephen A. Smith's claim that junior James is the most intriguing player in this year's Draft.

Russo, alongside Brian Windhorst, joined Stephen A. on ESPN to talk about the details of the upcoming draft.

"He [Bronny] would not even play on UConn last past year. He would be on the bench with Dan Hurley's kid. He wasn't better than Newton, he's not better than Spencer and he's not better than Castle," Russo said.
"Newton's not getting drafted, the point guard who won two championships. This is a guy who in a horrendous conference, on a terrible team averaged 4.8 points a game on 36% shooting...if LeBron James is not his father, would anybody care about Bronny James?" he added [Time Stamp - 4:05].

Russo made it clear that the spotlight and attention on Bronny is mainly because of his father.
