Caitlin Clark cheers for the Chiefs after former teammate Gabbie Marshall becomes Bengals' 'Ruler of the Jungle'
Caitlin Clark and Gabbie Marshall shared a special bond as teammates at the Iowa Hawkeyes. While they often appreciate each other's achievements, Clark didn't forget about her loyalties in her recent social media activity.
On Saturday, Marshall was named the 'Ruler of the Jungle,' leading the Cincinnati Bengals' famous 'Who Dey?' chant ahead of their home game against the Baltimore Ravens. Clark appreciated Marshall while showing loyalty to the Bengals' fierce AFC rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs in her latest Instagram story.
"Spirit animal @gabbie.marshall. Go chiefs," said Clark.
Marshall, a Cincinnati native, became the latest celebrity to take part in the Bengals' pregame tradition. Earlier this season, UConn men's basketball coach Dan Hurley was named 'Ruler of the Jungle' for the Bengals' Week 1 game against the New England Patriots.
In Week 3, Bengals Ring of Honor 2024 inductees Corey Dillon and Tim Krumrie led the chant ahead of the game against the Washington Commanders.
How Iowa-born Caitlin Clark became a Kansas City Chiefs fan
Last November, Clark appeared on "Monday Night Football" with hosts Peyton and Eli Manning. While watching a game between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles with the legendary NFL duo, Clark, an Iowa native, revealed how her family made her a Chiefs fan when she was a child.
"I've been a Chiefs fan since I was a young girl," said Clark. "I had cousins in Kansas City. There was an embarrassing picture of me in all Chiefs gear floating around, and I love it."
Clark was phenomenal in her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, justifying the franchise's decision to make her the top overall pick in this year's WNBA draft. Although the Connecticut Sun swept the Fever in the first round of the playoffs, Clark emerged as one of the biggest WNBA stars this season.
Clark was named the WNBA Rookie of the Year, winning 66 of 67 votes for the honor. Chicago Sky's Angel Reese won the only other vote.
