Jan Jensen welcomed a new era in Iowa women's basketball in style, as the Hawkeyes started the 2024-25 season with a dominant 91-73 victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies on Wednesday. To celebrate the victory, Hawkeyes players covered their new coach in streamers, with Jensen enjoying the moment in the locker room.
The Hawkeyes' celebrations received a lot of reactions from fans, who took to social media to express their opinions. Some celebrated the perfect start to the post-Caitlin Clark era after she entered the WNBA as the top pick of the 2024 draft.

Team effort powers Hawkeyes to debut victory under Jan Jensen
The Hawkeyes looked sharp in their first game against the Huskies, with six players scoring in double figures. They also didn't let up on defense and outrebounded the Huskies.
Senior guard Lucy Olsen led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Redshirt senior Kylie Feuerbach made her presence felt in the Hawkeyes' backcourt as she finished with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.
Jan Jensen and the Iowa Hawkeyes will be back in action on Sunday as they'll take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in Charlotte, North Carolina.
