Caitlin Clark reveals cheering for hometown acquaintance Teagan Kavan in Texas vs. Oklahoma 2024 WCWS

Everyone watches women's sports, including Indiana Fever rookie, Caitlin Clark, who has become one of the faces of the WNBA following her record-breaking NCAA career. Despite being one of the most-watched basketball players though, she did not choose to watch Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks.

Clark revealed that she skipped the finals to watch the 2024 Women's College World Series instead, featuring the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns playing against each other in this year's final. The former Iowa Hawkeyes superstar said that she was rooting for Texas freshman pitcher, Teagan Kavan, who lived two streets away from her childhood home:

“I had the women’s college softball World Series on instead," Clark said. "…there’s a girl that pitches for Texas who’s a freshman that actually lived a couple streets over from me growing up.”

Unfortunately for Kavan and the Texas Longhorns, the Sooners won the series to clinch their fourth consecutive national championship, becoming the first program to ever achieve the feat.

Caitlin Clark shows off her basketball prowess for Indiana Fever against Washington Mystics

The Indiana Fever (3-9) played against the Washington Mystics (0-11) on Friday. Caitlin Clark and Co. came away with a narrow, 85-83 win. The Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. saw Clark in high spirits as she put on a stellar show, confidently shooting 3-pointers from seemingly every part of the hardwood floor.

Clark tied a WNBA career-high of 30 points with eight rebounds, six assists, four steals and eight turnovers. She also ended her night with seven made 3-pointers, becoming only the second WNBA rookie to register a 30+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 5+ 3-pointers made stat line in a game.

Friday's win and performance was an important one, as Clark had been having trouble finding her ground in the league till now. She amassed a career-low of three points on Sunday against the New York Liberty, where the Fever lost, 104-68.

Indiana will hope to keep the winning momentum going when they face the league-leading and sole undefeated team this season, the Connecticut Sun, at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday.
