Gabbie Marshall, the former sniper and defensive specialist at Iowa, has retired from professional basketball and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina.

She and Gyamfi cultivated a strong bond in the last two years as they played integral roles for their school in its best ever two-year run.

So, when Marshall exhausted her NCAA eligibility this summer, she planned a two-month trip to a cabin in Colorado with Gyamfi and Kate Martin. However, Martin was picked up by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA draft, canceling Gyamfi and Marshall’s plans.

To make the most out of a rare full week of availability, Marshall planned to surprise Jada Gyamfi by visiting Iowa at the start of October. In the TikTok video around the same adventure posted on October 10, the former Hawkeyes star allowed fans to witness her entire trip as she packed, switched flights, landed in Iowa and caught Gyamfi tearing up.

Moreover, she also partnered with Kate Martin, who was fresh off her debut WNBA season with the Las Vegas Aces. The two grabbed some food and surprised Gyamfi outside her room.

Current youngsters like Hannah Stuelke, Addison O’Grady, AJ Ediger, and Sydney Affolter were also present throughout the events.
