Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony spills the beans on his go-to move for winning a matchup
Kiyan Anthony has established himself as one of the best talents to look out for after incredible performances in spring and summer at circuit basketball. Kiyan joined his father, Carmelo Anthony, for Tuesday's episode of his "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast with Paul George as the special guest.
At one point, the conversation steered towards the favorite go-to move before winning a game.
"I like the punch dribble," Kiyan said [from 1:03:02]. "Like when you go and you just stop. I like that because it gives you like, you could read off it like step back or if he's still. You could feel me go to the basket. I like playing off of that."
The 17-year-old has just one season of high school basketball left before moving to college. Kiyan Anthony has announced his top six schools, which included his father's alma mater, Syracuse, along with Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, USC, and Rutgers. He will announce his final decision in November.
Carmelo Anthony thanks Paul George for inspiring Kiyan Anthony
In February, Kiyan Anthony went viral on social media when he chose Paul George over his father as the GOAT during an interview for Complex with his mother, La La Anthony. She was completely shocked by the answer and jokingly chided Kiyan for not choosing his father.
However, Carmelo Anthony did not seem too bothered by it and extended his gratitude to George for being an inspiration. On his podcast, he said:
"I want to give you your flowers though, and say thank you for inspiring him, you see what I'm saying? That's big. So I want to say thank you, champ for inspiring my son to be happy, say 'PG in the house all f*cking day, all night.' Thank you for that.”
When George offered to train with Kiyan, now that he is in Philadelphia after his trade from LA, Melo gave it the green light:
"I am a team player. I want him to go workout with people with very specific skill sets, not just go workout and do the same workout with everybody else. Nah, we're gonna develop. We developing into a complete player," he added.
With Kiyan Anthony harboring NBA dreams, he is going to need all the advice and training he can get to live up to his father's legacy.
