Carmelo Anthony's son Kiyan gets real on crushing competition after his Peach Jam heroics this summer: "That's how you measure yourself"

Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, is making a name for himself in the Nike EYBL Circuit as a prospect to watch. The 17-year-old is ranked No. 40 in ESPN's top 100 for the class of 2025 and has been widely recruited.

During a recent appearance on the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast, Anthony explained how he sees himself against prospects from the class of 2025.

"I feel like high school is different than AAU cause high school I was playing with like two top 10 players and we were like top three in the country but in AAU I gotta be on my own team and be leading and flourish, so AAU every team you play there's gonna be at least one top-ranked player so that's how you measure yourself. If you're able to guard that person and he's guarding you and if you're able to compete with them and if you're able to get the win," Kiyan Anthony said.

Kiyan Anthony favors Carmelo's alma mater

Kiyan Anthony has received plenty of offers after blowing up on the Nike EYBL circuit since last year. Just last Thursday, he narrowed down the list of programs that he was considering to six.

The six programs being considered by the prospect include Florida State, USC, Rutgers, Auburn, and his father's alma mater, Syracuse.

During an interview with On3 at the 2024 Peach Jam, Anthony spoke about the factors that have attracted him to Syracuse, where his father played and won a national championship in 2003.

"I just like the atmosphere, you know, obviously my dad went there 20-something years ago, so I just like the atmosphere, I like the family environment," Kiyan Anthony said. "The coaches, I feel like they're recruiting me for myself, and not just because of my father. That's what I like. I just feel like they're rebuilding and they're looking to get a winning team. I feel like I can help them do that if I was to go there."

According to ESPN, Syracuse coach Adrian Autry has made it a priority for his team to sign Kiyan Anthony and Orange staff have attended most of his games during the past year.

Kiyan's close relationship with Elijah Moore, who has already committed to Syracuse, and Tyler Jackson, who is also on the team's priority list, could be a swaying factor for the prospect to commit to the Orange.

It has been ages since the heyday of winning a national championship for Syracuse and there's nothing like the son of a legend, who led the team to that honor, to get the fans dreaming once again.
