Carmelo and La La Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony shares insights from his official college visits
Kiyan Anthony is one of the best shooting guards in the class of 2025 and the best hooper in the state of New York. He averaged 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists for Long Islang Lutheran last season.
The 17-year-old made waves through several AAU stints in the summer and is one of the most sought-after recruits, with over 20 offers. However, the youngster has narrowed his list down to six programs and will soon mount a string of visits to finalize his college.
In the interview released on Sept. 17, Sloane on the SloaneKnows: NEXT podcast inquired Anthony about the common things he does on an official visit.
"So you get there, the first day you might eat with the coaches, be with your family and stuff, chill," Anthony said. "They take you around the campus, you might watch a football game or a basketball game," Anthony followed.
"And during the daytime, you watch their practice, you watch the basketball team practice and then you take pictures in a little uniform or whatever. I feel like that's the biggest thing on a visit when you take the pictures," he added. (3:09)
As Sloane probed more, Kiyan Anthony revealed that programs go the extra mile to convince potential recruits to commit to their program.
Kiyan Anthony has two visits planned for the coming weekends
Kiyan Anthony is in the middle of his recruiting process and is evaluating Rutgers, Auburn, Syracuse Orange, Florida State, Ohio State and USC Trojans.
The 17-year-old was scheduled to visit California on Sept. 14 but rescheduled it for the coming weekend. Moreover, he was visited by Syracuse’s coaching staff last week. Nevertheless, Anthony will now visit the USC Trojans on Sept. 26 before his Rutgers visit during the first weekend of October.
Kiyan Anthony has been on official visits to Florida State and Syracuse. The Orangemen seem to be on the lead when it comes to landing Anthony, as he has also visited the program once on an unofficial visit.
In conversation with Sloane, Anthony reflected that he's working on finalizing a visiting timeline with the Buckeyes soon. Moreover, the Auburn staff will visit Anthony for an open gym next week, which could yield a visiting timeline for Bruce Pearl's program as well.
